I have already learned that Alex Trebek, the original host of Jeopardy's 1984 revival, had died of stage 4 pancreatic cancer at 80 years old.
I guess the 1984 revival of Jeopardy began production in the summer of that year, and the series premiere originally aired on September 10, 1984.
Alex died yesterday at his home and was survived by his wife Jean, along with Nicky Trebek, one of Alex's kids who may have worked in the first few years of the 1984 Jeopardy revival in the 80s.
Alex has also starred in the 1970s game show Double Dare for CBS and the 1987 revival of Concentration called Classic Concentration for NBC, along with other NBC game shows The Wizard of Odds, the 1970s versions of High Rollers, and Battlestars.
Trebek's final episode of Jeopardy was originally believed to air on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020, but the airdate was changed to January 8, 2021. Ken Jennings should be the interim host of the show in the week of January 11-15, 2021.
