HSN's hosts and models, past and present

This blog post features HSN host bios and my own model bios for the network.

Adam Freeman, a native of Leeds, England, joined HSN in 2007. He enjoys traveling and is determined to visit as many U.S. states as possible. He likes attending movies and theme parks with friends and has a soft spot for cars and admits to a childhood dream of becoming a professional wrestler!

Alyce Caron, a native of St. Augustine, FL, has been on-air at HSN since 2003. She is a former news anchor at NBC station KXAS channel 5 in Dallas, TX. Aside from travel, Alyce’s passions include music, cooking and movies. She describes herself as a “complete and total gypsy” who loves immersing herself in the customs and personality of new destinations.

Amy Morrison, a native of Ann Arbor, MI, has been on air at HSN since 2005. Amy enjoys cooking, boating and fishing with her husband, and spending time with her family. Amy has ridden horses since she was a child and competed in show jumping for several years. Amy's signature show is Beauty Report, which she usually hosts Thursdays at 7PM ET on HSN as part of its Gotta Watch Thursdays block.

A New York native, Anji Corley, debuted on HSN in 2011 and is thrilled to help viewers with their shopping experience with flash and flavor! She brings an expertise ranging from interviewing A-list celebrities on TV & radio to transforming the lives of young people through mentoring. This “foodie” savors unique eateries, laughing, traveling and spending time with loved ones.

Bill Green, a native of Miami, has been on-air at HSN for 20 years. He began his career in radio at the age 16 and went on to produce and direct at several radio stations. Bill has dabbled in stand-up comedy, specializing in celebrity impersonations, and is an avid traveler.

Originally from Quonset, Rhode Island, Bobbi Ray Carter has been at HSN since 1983! Bobbi Ray has traveled the world with a theater company, and spends her free time shopping, riding motorcycles and redecorating.

With a love of live television, Brett Chukerman jumped off the red carpets of Hollywood to join HSN in 2011. His appetite for pop culture is matched by his love of technology. His intellectual curiosity spans from the latest electronics to the newest ideas in health, fitness, and house wares. He has a secret love for country music, historical fiction novels and cats – a strange mixture for sure, but one that keeps viewers guessing what he’ll say next. Brett loves guiding customers in their quest to upgrade and innovate their lives.

Originally from Grand Forks, ND, Callie Northagen made her HSN debut in 1999. Callie feels right at home in the outdoors - she loves to camp and stays active by hiking, horseback riding, and skiing. Callie also enjoys cooking, trying new recipes, and sampling her creations.

Although she can claim roots in Phoenix, Nashville and Los Angeles, there’s a good chance Carrie Smith has been to your town. Carrie began her career working as an emcee on various country music tours before transitioning her talents to in front of the camera. In 2011 she set her sites on her favorite network, HSN. Combining her love for shopping and passion for the latest products with her positive presence on screen, Carrie now feels she is right at home.

Colleen Lopez, a native of St. Paul, MN, has been on-air at HSN since 1994! She is passionate about gemstone design, and loves art and travel. She gets a thrill exploring new cities and browsing local museums and art galleries. Colleen hosts the most signature shows at HSN: My Favorite Things with Colleen Lopez, Designer Gallery with Colleen Lopez, and HSN's weekly show The List with Colleen Lopez which airs Thursdays at 9PM ET as part of Gotta Watch Thursdays.

A native of Morristown, TN, Connie Craig-Carroll has been on-air at HSN since 1998. In her free time, Connie watches sports, collects crosses, is an expert shopper, and enjoys hanging out with her girlfriends.

A native of Southport, CT, Guy Yovan returned to HSN in 2009. From rappelling in the jungles of Costa Rica to cooking at Spago with Wolfgang Puck, Guy’s work life has been anything but boring. He’s thrilled to be the “Go-to Guy” at HSN and has served as one of the hosts of HSN Today since its 2014 revamp.

Helen Keaney, a native of Vestal, NY, made her HSN debut in 2008. Once the winner of a disco competition, HSN’s dancing queen still has Saturday Night Fever dreams, but you are more likely to find Helen driving her daughter to a playdate, as well as at HSN's headquarters whenever you visit them and she's there.

St. Petersburg, FL born-and-bred, Kathy Wolf first appeared on HSN in 1992. She describes herself as a “total soccer mom” and enjoys chauffeuring her kids to various sporting events. Kathy’s favorite hobby is simple: laughing.

A Philadelphia native, Lynn Murphy has been with HSN since 1991. An avid Philly sports fan, Lynn cheers her teams on from afar. She enjoys golf, traveling, boating and spending time with family and friends.

Originally from Miami, Marlo Smith first appeared on HSN in 1997. She is active in several charities and serves as a volunteer guardian ad Litem. She enjoys saltwater fish, coral aquariums, loves to go dancing with friends, and she’s a make-up junkie.

Robin Wall, a native of Parma, OH, first appeared on HSN in 1995. Though Robin loves the hectic, unrehearsed world of live television, away from the cameras, she enjoys simple things - sunsets with her husband, photography, snow skiing, reading and decorating.

Shannon Fox debuted on HSN in 2014.  She is blessed to be a mother to 3 adorable children ages 7, 9, and 12. Shannon grew up on horseback, and first learned to ride a bike at age 21. She was best friends with her husband for 10 years before falling in love. She is the reigning Gangnam Style dance champ when her family plays Dance, Dance Revolution. She is the best-selling author of the book “Last One Down the Aisle Wins: 10 Keys to Getting a Fabulous Single Life Now and an Even Better Married Life Later”. Shannon fell in love with all things fashion and beauty on the set as a model and actress in Hollywood. She grew up in Southern California and her parents still watch every show she hosts. Shannon played Commander Riker’s girlfriend on Star Trek: The Next Generation, created by Gene Roddenberry for Paramount Television. She is a daredevil on a wave runner and even fancies herself an amateur gourmet.

Shannon Smith, who considers Herman, Donnelly and Morris, MN to be her hometowns, first appeared on HSN in 1995. Shannon cooks often and loves to experiment with recipes. She writes short stories and poems in her spare time and loves to work out, especially kickboxing and yoga. She has also begun to do dance cardio workouts on her days off as well, including her Minnesota vacations.

Hailing from NYC, Shivan Sarna has been at HSN since 1999. From her blog and Facebook to sharing the details on a ring or a lipstick on TV, she loves giving information so you can make informed decisions and have fun shopping! Shivan is writing an inspirational book about her parents’ business and legacy, The Bells of Sarna.

Suzanne Runyan is an outstanding host on HSN.  Originally from Delaware, OH, Suzanne made her HSN debut in 2004. Before joining HSN, she was a host at QVC. Suzanne enjoys crafting and scrapbooking in her spare time and has traveled to South Africa twice to teach scrapbooking!

Tamara Hooks's shows are always fun to watch. Tamara, born in Inglewood, CA , first appeared on HSN in 2006. Tamara is an accomplished jazz, modern, and ballet dancer, and incorporates golf and yoga into her exercise regimen, and she collects unique chess sets and loves to play!

Here are my own bios of some HSN models.

Sonja Ryans, originally from the Cleveland area in Ohio, is a great model at HSN. She has two boys named Zach and Cody who are actually named after The Suite Life of Zack & Cody which first aired on Disney Channel. Sonja enjoys watching movies and her favorite TV shows (including Disney movies and shows, which she watches with her kids).

Kara Preston, originally from Pinellas County in Florida, is an excellent model at HSN. She has a Shitzu/Maltese dog named Teddy. She lived in Miami for about nine years before finally returning to the Tampa Bay area and becoming a model at HSN, and had worked for a call center when she was 16 years old. Kara's hobbies include spending time with her family, her boyfriend, and her dog, dancing with friends, and watching her favorite TV shows.

Natalie Hayden-Nelson is a great model at HSN who is born and raised in Florida. She loves to have more fun in the sunshine state on her days off at HSN. She has been an HSN model for less than two decades and is an entertaining model who has three Boxers (Brodie, Oliver, and Woodley), and she enjoys sleeping, traveling, and watching football.

Regina Dow-Marlow is a great model at HSN and is also an actress in addition to being a model. She was Rhonda Shear's first model and is famous for modeling Rhonda Shear's shapewear line sold on HSN. She has had a perfect job as an HSN model for over a decade. Regina's hobbies include watching movies and her favorite TV shows on her days off.

Barbara Cetrone is the best fitness model in the history of HSN. She is famous for modeling the ProForm line of fitness equipment, and is famous for working out. In her spare time, Barbara works out on her own treadmill while watching TV and movies.

Carol Hewetson is a great HSN model who is about six decades old. Her modeling role at HSN is less entertaining than any other model's role at the network, as she has less excellence as a model. Watching her favorite TV shows is one of Carol's hobbies.

HSN's Footloose event from 10/12/2011

On October 12, 2011, HSN held a 24-hour Footloose movie event, featuring great products that had been inspired by the 2011 remake of Footloose.

On October 11, 2011, host Diana Perkovic started the event in the second hour of her three-hour shift that began at 11pm with one show of Libby Edelman's visit.

The Footloose event also allowed viewers to see the theatrical trailer, which first appeared during Diana Perkovic's shift on the night of 10/11/11. The 2011 remake hit theaters the following Friday, on October 14, but the Footloose event was one of the movie events that was held by HSN in the past.

The 2011 remake stars Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, and others.

On July 25, 2013, Wheel of Fortune director Mark Corwin died of cancer at the age of 65. He was also the associate director of a number of daytime and nighttime Wheel episodes taped at the NBC Studios in Burbank until 1989, as well as his own episodes of some other game shows that were taped at the NBC Studios in the 1970s and 80s. Keith Urban on air now with HSN's Shannon Smith!

Country singer Keith Urban returned to HSN at midnight last night with Colleen Lopez as the host, for Urban's first anniversary with HSN. Urban's second show of the visit, hosted by Callie Northagen, aired live at 11am this morning and lasted two hours. His third show of the visit was hosted by Amy Morrison and aired live at 4pm this afternoon.

Urban is currently on the air, live during Shannon Smith's shift, and Urban's final show of the visit lasts for three hours. The show started at 9pm tonight.

Congratulations on Keith Urban's 1st anniversary with HSN!

HSN re-airs Keith Urban's first show of visit in its entirety

Early this morning at 6am, HSN aired a rerun of Colleen Lopez's show with Keith Urban in its entirety, which was the first show of his first anniversary visit. The show first aired live from midnight last night to 2am this morning, and re-aired in its entirety from 6-8am this morning. The network took a break from live programming for not one but two hours today, just like they did on September 21. It was a rare occasion for the network to air a rerun of the midnight and 1am hours from the night before.

ET and The Doctors move from WFLA to WTTA

In September, Entertainment Tonight and The Doctors had moved from NBC station WFLA channel 8 in Tampa to My Network TV station WTTA channel 38.

Before ET could move to channel 8, the show was seen on WTVT channel 13 during the 1990s. And before The Doctors could move to channel 38, it was seen on channel 8.

HSN host Shannon Fox off today

I noticed earlier today that HSN's program guide had gone wrong. HSN host Guy Yovan took the 6am hour today, but at the start of that hour, new host Shannon Fox was still listed in the program guide, so during the hour, the network's program guide on HSN.com had been modified to reflect Guy hosting the 6am hour, because actually, Shannon Fox herself is off today.

Libby to leave JTV; Lisa R. to leave QVC

Libby Floyd, from Shop at Home Network and ShopHQ, will leave Jewelry Television on November 13. She was a great host on Shop at Home, ShopHQ, and JTV themselves, but after Libby's departure from JTV, she will move back to her husband and cats.

Lisa Robertson will soon be leaving QVC after Libby's departure from JTV. I found out that Libby is leaving JTV. She will leave JTV after Kristen Keech's departure from the network.

Leave a comment below if you know about Libby leaving JTV and Lisa leaving QVC.

Diane Gilman returns to HSN on 11/22

HSN has had Diane Gilman as a fashion guest for over 20 years. She is "the queen of jeans" according to HSN, which has aired Gilman's show called Diane Gilman Fashions. She created the DG2 Super Stretch jeans recently, which are nice for women to wear.

Diane had a great Today's Special visit, starting on the night of September 20. Her Today's Special visit lasted all day on September 21, and HSN took a break from its live programming for not one but two hours that day to air a rerun of the September 20 show in its entirety.

See Diane's next Today's Special as part of her next visit which starts Saturday, November 22 at 11PM ET on HSN. You can also see Diane Sunday, November 23 at 9AM, 1PM, and 9PM ET on the same network.

Future DVD releases of game show classics

There should be new-to-DVD episodes of Family Feud, Password, the CBS daytime Price is Right, and Match Game. If so, these new-to-DVD episodes will be available as part of new game show DVD box sets that Mill Creek Entertainment will create in the future.

  • All new-to-DVD episodes of Feud, Password, CBS daytime Price, and Match Game should have a full credit roll.
  • Mill Creek Entertainment will release box sets of both Jim Perry versions of Sale of the Century, both versions of Scrabble (which first aired on NBC), Password Plus, Super Password, Trivia Trap, Child's Play, Card Sharks starring Jim Perry himself, Bob Eubanks, and Bill Rafferty, Blockbusters starring Bill Cullen and Bill Rafferty, and newer Family Feud DVD box sets featuring new-to-DVD episodes of the original Richard Dawson era of Feud, as well as both Ray Combs versions that first aired from 1988-1994. The Combs versions of Feud should also be new-to-DVD. Other classic Goodson-Todman and Mark Goodson Productions game shows should also be new-to DVD as well.
In addition to Mill Creek Entertainment releasing new game show DVD box sets of Goodson-Todman/Mark Goodson Productions game shows, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment should release DVD box sets of Jeopardy! from the Alex Trebek era, featuring the same five episodes from the show's very first DVD (titled An Inside Look at America's Favorite Quiz Show) that was released in 2005, plus many more classic episodes from the 1980s and 90s (including the ones featured on the Jeopardy! Flashback section of Crackle and many with a full credit roll). In addition to new-to-DVD Jeopardy! episodes, the nighttime syndicated version of Wheel of Fortune should also be coming to DVD. All episodes of America's Game, which will be new-to-DVD, should have a full credit roll. The first DVD box set of Wheel should have 32 episodes on 4 discs in honor of its 32nd season on the air, and the first DVD box set of Jeopardy! should have 31 episodes on 4 discs in honor of its 31st season on the air. All other Wheel and Jeopardy! DVD box sets should have 30 episodes on 4 discs; each episode on each subsequent DVD box set should have a full credit roll. All the episodes on the first Jeopardy! DVD box set should have a full credit roll, except for all the episodes in the first Jeopardy! DVD from 2005.

If you know about these new-to-DVD game shows, leave a comment below!

HSN to resume airing midnight hour reruns tomorrow

Early this morning, instead of showing a partial rerun of a primetime host's shift from last night, HSN continued live programming with Shannon Fox and her guests Alexandra Baker and Tim Wilkins. The network will resume airing daily reruns of the midnight hour tomorrow at 5am ET with a rerun of Callie Northagen's shift from tonight.

Game show end credits on the Internet

This post is about game show end credits on YouTube and other websites that have full episodes of game shows. A credits sequence varies from episode to episode.

Jim Perry's nighttime syndicated version of Sale of the Century had a full credit roll for most of the first season. GSN airings of the episodes aired from February 6 through early May 1985 went straight to the list of sponsors after the final commercial break. In October 2014, the network resumed showing a full credit roll after the final commercial break on GSN airings of nighttime Sale. I have a compilation of credits sequences from nighttime Sale which first aired from January 7-25, 1985 and January 29-February 1, 1985, all in one video, with absolutely no intent of copyright infringement.

On the GSN airings of the January 7-25, 1985 episodes of nighttime Sale, after the copyright card, the network leaves in the contestant and ticket plugs before the full credit roll. All nighttime Sale episodes that first aired on the aforementioned dates had no fee plugs before the credits. On GSN airings of nighttime Sale episodes that first aired in most of February, March, and April 1985, after Jim signs off, the fee plugs (from reruns in the summer of 1985) are replaced by a commercial break, since the episodes that first aired in those three months of 1985 are the rerun versions from the summer of that year, because there had only been fee plugs in the summer reruns.

Most credits sequences end before the credit crunch, but on a GSN airing of the January 29, 1985 episode, the credits were fully uncrunched. GSN skipped the January 28, 1985 episode. Here's a link to the compilation.

Nighttime Sale of the Century credits compilation from January 7-25 and January 29-February 1, 1985

Some Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! credits sequences that I have were originally on YouTube but I relocated them to Dailymotion to avoid copyright trouble by Sony, which controlled Jeopardy! almost exclusively in a summer 2014 purge, according to a comment by David Downs in my video about copyright trouble by Sony.
